What Kendo is?

Kendo (剣道)

It´s a martial art.

It translates as
the way (道) of the sword (剣).

It is also known as Japanese fencing.

It has its origin in Japan

The All Japan Kendo Federation (AJKF or ZNKR) was founded in 1952

But nowadays Kendo is practised all around the world

with more than 60 countries with their own Federation

Equipment

In Kendo we use an armour (bogu) that is diveded in different parts:

men Men: Helmet that protects the face, neck and shoulders.

According to estimates worldwide, the number exceeds 6 million.

Kendo does not have a limit of age.

It is easy to find practitioners between 5 and 70 years. However, the teachers are even older.

Concept

Kendo is a way to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of the katana.
